Summer is on its way finally, and I must say its about time. This winter seemed to go on forever. It just seems to me like global warming took a vacation this winter because this time it was downright nasty. I have parents that live in two different elevations, and believe me my dad’s has much more snow to deal with when a blizzard comes, but even up there the snow is gone. Now I can forget about winter, and look ahead to the serene months of summer approaching fast. Leaves are finally turning green, and I can wear a t-shirt outside. I cannot wait until it gets warm enough to go swimming as well.
Thats right I said Lennon fanatics not Lenin fanatics, sorry to dissapoint all of you aspiring communists. An important piece of John Lennon memorabilia is going to be auctioned off. The document I speak of is the original paper featuring the lyrics “Give Peace a Chance”. This piece of history is going to be auctioned off at a London auction of July tenth. It is expected to fetch between $400,000 and $600,000. This would be a good item to add to any Beatles collection.
I have never personally been a huge fan of Van Halen, I always just saw them as another disposable 80s band, but recently their music has had a bizarre appeal to me. The songs by them I have heard before that seemed cheesy, and annoying now feel like inspirational anthems. I pray to god that this sudden change is not a growing trend. I have a terrible image lurking in my head of seeing myself in the future living in a basement somewhere wearing an old RATT t-shirt, that is if my opinion of 80s music keeps changing anyways.
Although not a musical individual George Carlin is a first class source of entertainment. I had the opportunity to see Carlin live last Friday, and he was absolutely hilarious. Carlin is now 70 years old, and never misses a beat. Carlin’s routine ranged from speaking about whats wrong with todays youth to his take on religion. I strongly recommend seeing a Carlin show if you have the chance, because you will be in stitches the entire time.
Miley Cyrus was largely critisized for her racy photos in Vanity Fair magazine recently. These images of the FIFTEEN YEAR OLD were completely inappropriate. They showed her without clothes showing her bare back in the photo. Even more disturbing than this is the fact that the Vanity Fair website crashed as a result of so many people looking for the images. What does this say about our society? We hear about racy photos of a young girl, and our first reaction is to be outraged, right? Apparently our first reaction is to search out and see these pictures for ourselves.
